Becoming a Certified Kenai River Fishing Guide
In January 2004, a group of organizations including the Alaska State Division of Parks, Alaska Department of Fish and Game, and Kenai Peninsula College collaborated to create the Kenai River Guide Academy®, a certification program for professional guides.
By March 2006, the academy became the official state-mandated training for all guides on the river. The program covers everything from river ecology and safety to responsible fish handling and guest experience—ensuring that every guide is well-equipped to protect this unique river system.
