About Us

Our Story

After many years of reserving campsites at the Russian River Campground and sleeping badly on the ground, Amber and Luke purchased a cabin along the Kenai River in 2014. They fell in love with its fire-pit, wooden dock going into the Kenai River, and that it was only a 5 minute drive to their favorite campground/fishing spot. The cabin soon became a basecamp for adventures on the Kenai Peninsula as well as their weekend/project home.

After four summers of updating and improving the cabin, a local Cooper Landing resident, Rob, offered to help them run their home as a vacation rental to others. 2019 was the start of Cooper Landing Lodge welcoming fellow adventures! However, due to COVID-19, we did not welcome guests in 2020.  In Fall of 2021, we purchased the cabin next door, which we call Black Bear. Since 2022, we have provided travellers two log cabins right on the Kenai River where they can to connect and explore the Alaskan Kenai Peninsula. Read Amber’s reflections and vision as she celebrated 5 years of business.

Why we host

Our family loves to travel and explore not only Alaska, but the entire world.  We typically stay in homes because they allow us to relax and “live like a local” in a way that staying in a hotel does not.  It’s so nice to wake up and have coffee in your rental while enjoying the views, instead of in a restaurant! We want others to relax and to embrace the Alaskan adventure lifestyle when they stay with us.

Our Philosophy

We know people spend time planning and saving up for an amazing trip to Alaska.  We strive to help you turn that dream vacation into reality. We also desire for you to have a comfortable place for family and friends to gather after spending a day exploring on the Alaskan Kenai Peninsula.  We love opening our home to fellow adventurers in the hopes that they are able to create cherished memories using Cooper Landing Lodge as a base camp.

Amber

Amber is a mother of four kids and wife to an amazing guy! Her prior military service is used to plan family fishing, hiking, and exploring trips. She also enjoys just hanging around the campfire roasting marshmallows. She believes that the best way to start the day is with a good night sleep.

Rob

Rob is a licensed ETT/Fire fighter and native of Colorado. He has spent countless hours in the woods and rivers of the Kenai Peninsula and is a wealth of knowledge on fishing, hiking, photography, rafting, wildlife viewing, foraging and most anything related to the great outdoors. He is onsite to meet your needs.
