Exciting News! We won a Grant to Help the Kenai River.

We are helping current and future generations enjoy fishing in Alaska by partnering with Streambank Rehab Cost Share program.

Exciting News!!!

Cooper Landing Lodge has just been granted an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the environment we love. I’m thrilled to share that I’ve received a grant from the Streambank Rehab Cost Share program. This is a fantastic initiative that aligns perfectly with our commitment to preserving the beauty of the Kenai River.

Grant Details: Making a Difference Along the Riverbank

This happy news isn’t just about receiving a grant. It will also bring positive changes to the riverbank along our property. To better understand the significance of this grant, read details of the Cost Share program directly from their website. The program addresses the natural events in a river’s life cycle, such as erosion and deposition, and aims to mitigate human activities that accelerate these processes.

In essence, the Cost-Share program works with landowners to develop bank protection and restoration projects. These projects are carefully selected based on their ability to sustain, restore, or create fish habitat. What’s remarkable is that these methods not only stabilize and rehabilitate the riverbank but also contribute to the overall improvement of fish and wildlife habitat.

Cooper Landing Lodge: Creating an Environmental Legacy

At Cooper Landing Lodge, I’m thrilled to play our part in creating an environmentally positive legacy in Alaska. In 2022, I took action by removing approximately 120 pine trees affected by spruce beetles. In the fall of 2023, I went a step further, replacing and enhancing the landscape away from the river. (Read about these improvements here) My goal is more than mere tree replacement. I aim to create a lively and thriving environment for wildlife. By participating in the Cost Share program, I am not only protecting our property, but also contributing to the well-being of fish and wildlife habitat on the Kenai River.

Picture this: generations to come, our guests enjoying the pristine beauty that surrounds our cabins. I envision families returning year after year. People fishing in the abundant waters of the Kenai River. Guest just like my own family, catching the limit of salmon in a couple of hours. Then the rest of the day can be spent exploring the banks of the river, creating lasting memories in this virtually untouched natural paradise.
